When you use StudyAssist AI, we collect:

- Usage data: How many analyses you've performed (for daily limits), your subscription status, and streak count.
- Payment information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number.
2. What We Don't Collect
- We do not store the content of webpages you analyze. Page content is sent to our AI for processing and immediately discarded.
- We do not track your browsing history or what websites you visit.
- We do not store screenshots or images you capture. They are processed in real-time and not saved.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the StudyAssist AI service
- Process your subscription payments
- Enforce usage limits on free accounts
- Improve the quality and accuracy of our AI responses
- Send important service-related notifications (no marketing emails unless you opt in)
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:

- MongoDB Atlas: Stores user account data securely in encrypted databases.
- Railway: Hosts our backend server infrastructure.
- Vercel: Hosts our website.

We take security seriously:
- Passwords are hashed using SHA-256 encryption
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (SSL/TLS encryption)
- Database access is restricted and monitored
- We regularly review and update our security practices
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed within 30 days. Analysis content (page text, screenshots) is never stored — it is processed in real-time and discarded immediately.
